In protest against the rising prices of petrol and diesel, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh participated in a bicycle rally on Saturday. The Congress workers had organised a bicycle rally in the Raipur Assembly constituency of Dehradun. The rally commenced from Sahastradhara crossing and passed through many areas of Raipur to culminate near the state assembly building. Speaking on the occasion, the PCC president said that the BJP in its election promise to the people of the country in the year 2014 had said that it would reduce the prices. However the BJP Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has forgotten the promise and the prices of petrol and diesel are continuously being increased. Singh said that Congress is holding protests against the rising prices of petrol and diesel and it would further intensify it.
He said that apart from petrol and diesel, the prices of essential commodities too have skyrocketed and the State Government has affected a steep hike in the fare of roadways buses which had hit the people hard.
He exhorted the people of the state to come forward and teach a lesson to BJP. The convenor of the rally was former Secretary of State Congress Titu Tyagi.
The Mahanagar president Lalchand Sharma, former Chairman of OBC commission Ashok Verma and others attended the rally.
