Cong disturbed by Govt's efforts against corruption: Ajay Bhatt

Responding to the allegations levelled by the Congress leadership in Uttarakhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party State president Ajay Bhatt opined that the opposition leaders are disturbed by the efforts being undertaken against corruption by the BJP State Government. Referring to statements made by the Pradesh Congress Committee, president Pritam Singh, leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh and Congress State co in-charge Sanjay Kapoor, the BJP State president said that under Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the BJP State Government has been taking strong action against corruption.

The Government is working according to its policy of zero tolerance to corruption, which is causing discomfort to the Congress leaders due to which they are also making contradictory statements. Bhatt stated, “Such is the situation that the Congress leaders who were earlier criticising the investigation by a Special Investigation Team into the National Highway 74 scam are now alleging that as the SIT is working swiftly, the State Government has purportedly sent a senior police officer to Kumaon region to delay progress in the probe. The statement by the Congress is also an acknowledgement by the party of the SIT working swiftly. The allegation about a senior police officer being sent to influence the pace of the probe is laughable and totally baseless.” he stressed.

Bhatt said that the investigation into the national highway scam and related tasks are progressing at a swift pace which is bothering the Congress.

The BJP State chief went on to state that the scam in food grains being uncovered has also shaken the Congress as many considered big names during the term of the Congress-led State Government are also involved in it. One can understand their sore point in such circumstances, if they allege that action is being taken in retribution against Congress workers, he added.

Bhatt said, “The Congress had weakened the State economically and should first have sought an apology for its deeds from the people of Uttarakhand. If they did not have the moral courage to do so, the least the Congress leaders could have done is to have played a proactive role. However, in their frustration, the Congress leaders are adopting a negative approach.

The Congress leaders are not able to see the developmental works and the schemes started for public welfare by the State Government using its own resources and with the help of the Central Government. However, such an attitude will prove detrimental to them and even the remaining presence of the Congress party in the State will get cleared away,” opined the BJP State president.
