'Cong didn't pay heed to Maharaj's demands'

Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) leader Mantri Prasad Naithani claimed on Saturday that former MP Satpal Maharaj had left the Congress party as the party leadership did not pay heed to his demand and further said that the same situation also took place with him as well during Assembly election 2012.

“Due to Congress party’s ignorance I also left Congress and I can understand why Maharaj took such drastic step,” said Naithani. With his statement, Naithani, who is known as close confidant of Satpal Maharaj, has given enough hints to the State Chief Minister Harish Rawat that he was with Maharaj’s wife and State Cabinet Minister Amrita Rawat. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rawat refused on Saturday to make any comment whether his Cabinet colleague and wife of Maharaj, Amrita Rawat, would remain in his Government or not, while talking to The Pioneer.

With this, observers said, Chief Minister was trying to send a clear message to everyone especially who believed that they would put pressure on CM. Sources said that Amrita Rawat may be shown the door from Cabinet and the her seat would go to PDF member and Tehri MlA (Independent) Dinesh Dhanai.

Although PDF, which is a group of seven MlAs including three BSP, three Independent and one UKD(P), has given enough hints that CM Rawat can’t take any decision without consultation with PDF. If Rawat takes reactionary step against Minsiter Amrita Rawat then PDF may revolt against State Government. If they revolt then Congress Government would topple because they are running on the support of PDF only.
