The Uttarakhand Congress has demanded that the State Government should roll out a relief package to help farmers ravaged by recent hailstones and unseasonal rains. Talking to the media persons, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief, Pritam Singh said that the farmers of the state have been hit hard by the recent rain and hailstones. He reminded the BJP government of Uttarakhand of the promise the party made to the farmers of the state ahead of the assembly elections of 2017 that their agricultural loans would be waived off and said that it is high time when this promise is fulfilled. He said that the farmers are facing to take their crops to the markets and are forced to sell it at throwaway prices. The PCC president said that every Congress party member is standing with the poor during this period of crisis precipitated by outbreak of novel Coronavirus. “We are making arrangements of distributing cooked meals to the poor by the means of Sonia kitchens and Indira kitchens at many places in the State. The Congress workers are also helping the poor in every possible way,’’ he said.
