Uttarakhand PCC chief Kishore Upadhyay has urged Chief Minister Harish Rawat to include the life sketch of freedom-fighter Sri Dev Suman in the curriculum of schools in Uttarakhand and provide his life sketch mandatorily in all libraries.
The Tehri dam reservoir should be named Sri Dev Suman Sagar to keep his memory alive. Upadhyay made these demands at a programme organised in Congress Bhawan to mark the birth anniversary of Suman on Monday.
Upadhyay said that Suman had undertaken an 84 day fast at the age of 28 years to rid Tehri of monarchy. He had sacrificed his life in the struggle for democracy. AICC spokesman Deepender Singh Hooda and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
