Cong councillors to put issues before Mayor in next board meeting

The newly elected leader of the Congress councillors in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), Vijendra Pal stated that in the upcoming board meeting, the councillors of Congress party will put their demands before the mayor and will stand together for the welfare of people in their respective wards.

In the last few months, several councillors, especially those associated with the Congress have complained that their demands are not generally met by the administration of the corporation.

Talking about this, Pal said that it is true that the councillors of the majority party always have an advantage over the councillors of the opposition party and their demands are likely to be met more than others. “It does not mean our requests and demands are never heard in MCD but it is true that we have to put some extra effort than others to achieve it. Sometimes, some things get delayed due to such issues which affects the work in our wards”,  said Pal.

According to him, improper sanitation facility is a common issue in several wards and in the next board meeting, they will raise this issue once again. He said that there are not sufficient sanitation workers in some wards and in the last meeting, the mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ had also promised to provide five additional sanitation workers but several wards are still left without sufficient workers.

He said that since the councillors of the Congress party will have a united representation in the corporation under a leader now, they will collectively put their issues before the mayor and municipal commissioner in the next board meeting.
