On the last campaigning day for urban local body elections, Congress candidate Mahesh Pratap Rana from Shivalik Nagar municipal council showed his prowess through road show attended by his supporters. The crowd in the road show seemed to change the triangular equations between independent, BJP and Congress candidates.

Rana organised the road show to elicit votes from the public in Shivalik Nagar on Friday. Local observers opined that he may give a close competition to BJP candidate Upendra Sharma.

Asking for votes Rana appealed in the name of real development and not eyewash. He said that he was son of Shivalik Nagar and would serve the public to solve problems of Shivalik Nagar municipality.

Targetting the BJP legislator from Ranipur, Adesh Chauhan, Rana said that he did nothing for the area. The condition of Subhash Nagar, Navoday Nagar and Tehri Visthapit colony is in shambles. There is no proper sewerage facility in Shivalik Nagar. During monsoon season, sewer water enters the homes of people in Shivalik Nagar, he said.

As many as 500 bikers participated in the road show accompanied by senior Congress leader Ambrish Kumar, Sanjay Paliwal and C P Singh among others. Singh appealed the public to vote for Congress for transparent development and saving BHEL. He averred that only Congress could bring real development in the area.
