Concern over tardy work on flood security at Srinagar

Pauri District Magistrate Chandra Sekhar Bhatt expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace  of Kamleshwar flood security work worth Rs 4.29 crore  going on in Srinagar in the district, while monitoring its progress at a meeting held at district headquarters Pauri on Monday.

Bhatt instructed the chief treasury officer, the SDM Srinagar and the executive engineer, Irrigation Srinagar division to make joint inspection of the ongoing work and submit the inspection report in a week so that the actual status of the work can be assessed. Venting annoyance over the matter, the DM is said to told  the manager SS Rana that such negligence would not be brooked.

This is because the project involves disaster and so it is important. The flood security work should be completed immediately because the water level of the river would start rising from April. Bhatt instructed the working agency to increase the number of the labourers to have things completed before the rainy season sets in.  Every possible step should be taken to expedite things, he stressed. Among others, sub district magistrate Srinagar Raza Abbas, chief treasury officer BP Kandpal and project director Bikram Singh were present in the monitoring meeting.
