The Bharatiya Janata Party State unit led by the party's state head of its election commission coordination, Puneet Mittal has lodged a complaint against Chief Minister and Congress candidate Harish Rawat with the election commission on Wednesday.
In its complaint, the BJP has alleged that a Whats App number 8090680906 is being operated in the name of the chief minister Harish Rawat. Through this number, the CM is informing the people that through this number they can establish direct contact with the CM Harish Rawat. the profile pic of this number carries the slogan "Uttarakhand Rahe Khushhall-Rawat Rahe Paanch (5) Saal" which is a blatant violation of the election model code of conduct (MCC). Mittal further alleged that a Twitter handle and Facebook account are also being operated in the name of the Chief Minister but he did not disclose it in the nomination paper. He is using a banner software so if you open your personal account then it would appear in your account in violation of the MCC.
They also stated that the website of Uttarakhand Ayurveda university is still carrying the picture of chief minister Harish Rawat and health minister Surendra Singh Negi. The BJP representatives who submitted the complaint also stressed that they had been consistently lodging complaint against the Chief Minister regarding the violation of the election Model Code of Conduct but this has apparently not had any effect on him. It seems that despite occupying a constitutional post he does not bother about observing the MCC and has little respect for the election commission, alleged the BJP office bearers.
