The alleged cruelty of a youth of one community towards a calf has resulted in communal tension flare up in the nagar panchayat Satpuli and adjoining Nayar valley under Pauri district on Wednesday. Angered over the alleged act, some people  shut down the market  at Satpuli, vandalised  the furniture shop of the youth and gherod the Satpuli police station, demanding immediate  arrest of the youth. Senior Superintendent of Police JR Joshi, however, managed things after he reached the place.  Police used mild force to disperse the mob. later, the youth,  identified as Shah Alam, son of  Barket Ali, was arrested  and a case against him was registered under section 377 of  the Indian Penal Code. Additional  police force from Kotdwar and lansdowne aside from a PAC contingent  was deployed at Satpuli to maintain peace in the area.   SSP Joshi said that the youth was  spotted by a local  woman  while he was acting cruelly with a calf  at a cow shelter (goosala) at Dudharkhal Tiraha at Satpuli. The situation in Satpuli is under control, SSP said.  Notably, this is the second incident of communal tension flaring in one month, the first being triggered by an objectionable social media post.
