In a development that might sound sweet for 51 students who were caught cheating during the private and regular examinations of Sri Dev Suman University held last year, the varsity authority has constituted a four-member committee to decide things regarding announcement of their results which were held up following the incident. The committee would give its report to the Vice- Chancellor.
Notably, the flying squad had raided several centeres during the 2013-14 private and regular examinations being conducted by Sri Dev Suman University and caught 51 students copying.
Taking action against them for resorting to unfair means, the varsity authority withheld their results. However, softening the previous stridency with the career of so many students hanging fire, the varsity authority has constituted a four-member committee to resolve the impasse. The committee would meet to deliberate on the issue and then send its recommendations to the registrar of the university. The report would then be submitted to the Vice Chancellor to enable him to take the final call.
Speaking of the issue, Hansraj Bisht, the registrar of Sri Dev Suman University, said the committee has been set up keeping in view the interests of the students. Decks should be cleared for the students to apply for the next classes, he added. “We are convinced that the committee has been set up to clear the results of the errant students. If such a thing happens it would prove a bad precedent,” said a varsity official while insisting on anonymity.
Meanwhile, Sri Dev Suman University has sent the mark- sheets of MA, M Com final year’s main examination and back paper examinations to the concerned centers. Special attention was supposed to have been paid by the University to ensure that the mark- sheets are error-free.
