Senior Punjab Congress leader, Colonel CD Kamboj, known for his closeness to former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and former Union Minister Ambika Soni, on Tuesday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Kamboj, also party’s Punjab unit vice-president, cited “infighting” among the state Congress leaders as a main reason to quit the party and join AAP.
“In the current political scenario it seems that Congress is not in a position to challenge the Akalis in Punjab since its own leaders are busy infighting,” he said. Without naming anybody, Kamboj claimed that all Congress leaders are involved in fighting each other.
With State Assembly poll still more than a year away, Kamboj’s decision to switch loyalty towards AAP has sent alarm bells ringing in, not only the Congress’ camp, but also among the SAD-BJP.
