The University after a recent inspection of college had curtailed the number of seats in many under graduate courses inviting the ire of the students. The irate students gathered at the regional office of the university on Tuesday and protested against reduction in number of seats. These students handed over a memorandum to office in charge Mithila Rawat against the decision of the university. The students argued that the infrastructure of the college is better than many other colleges and reduction of seats by university is unwarranted.
The delegation of the students threatened that they would start an indefinite strike in the college from July 10 if the order to reduce seats is not taken back. Nitin Chandila who was part of the delegation said that many students would be deprived of the admission if University persists with it decision. The order of the University means that only 450 seats would be up for grabs in the college in under graduate course in science stream against 580 which were available last year. Similarly only 400 seats would be available in BA course against 520 last year.
