Collectorate staff on warpath set to intensify stir

Dehradun Ministerial Collectorate Employees’ Union has decided to intensify its protest in support of its pending demands under the banner of Uttarakhand Ministerial Collectorate Employees’ Union.

However, Dehradun district magistrate Chandresh Kumar said that in view of the indefinite strike convened by the Ministerial collectorate employees across the State, alternative arrangements have been put into place to redress the people’s concerns in the district. While interacting with mediapersons, DM claimed that works are going on normally in the collectorate despite dragging protests by the Ministerial collectorate employees.

Kumar said, with the Ministerial collectorate employees unavailable due to indefinite strike for the past few days, the visitors who reach the collectorate for redressal of their grievances should directly approach the officers — ADM (administration), ADM (finance), SDMs, Tehsildars and other district officers.

Cases dated in the court of DM, ADM, SDM, and Tehsildar on Monday have been postponed for the next week. As part of the alternative arrangements, the department officials have been deputed on some important posts to complete the work of ministerial collectorate employees.

The regular court will begin in the Collectorate from the next week. The departmental action will be taken against the Ministerial collectorate employees who do not provide keys of the almirahs where important documents are stacked to the officers concerned, he warned.

Around 200 fireworks dealers, traders, shopkeepers and retailers who reached the collectorate on Monday submitted application forms for procuring license to set up shops of crackers in the demarcated areas in the State capital.

The last date for submission of application forms is October 16 (5 pm). The license will be awarded to the applicants for five days from October 19 to October 23 in demarcated areas.

Collectorate employees reached the collectorate and staged a sit- in in support of their pending demands.

Uttarakhand Ministerial Collectorate Employees’ Union member Rajendra Kumar said despite written assurances given by the State Government regarding their pending demands, their concerns are yet to be redressed.

The demands include ten percent seats of Nayab Tehsildar being reserved for Ministerial employees and re-jigging the Collectorate, among others.
