A woman lost her life while sleeping in a room with a coal brazier lit without any ventilation in the room, while the woman lost life, her husband had to be admitted to a local hospital.

On discovering what had happened, the villagers called the GVKEMRI 108 ambulance, but the ambulance from Chamba did not reach the village due to lack of fuel. The villagers transported the family members to a hospital in a private vehicle.

On Saturday night Dandasali village resident Shyam Chand Ramola and his wife Suraja Ramola went to sleep after dinner. They forgot to remove the lit coal brazier from their bedroom. The milkman knocked repeatedly at their door on Sunday morning without eliciting any response.

This caused alarm among the villagers, informing Shyam Chand's son Dinesh Ramola who runs a shop in Chamba. He came home after which the door was broken. The Ramola couple was found lying on the bed and their son, with the help of villagers took them to a private hospital.

Suraja Ramola was declared dead from carbon monoxide poisoning while her husband was found unconscious. His condition is said to have improved now. It has been learnt that the Ramola family had plugged the gaps below the door and windows with cloth to prevent any air from outside to enter the room.
