To mark the World Co-operative Day, several programmes, including co-operative meetings and seminars, would be held for ten days at 1033 primary agriculture loan corporative societies/district corporative banks and its branches across the state from July 1, said state co-operative minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat.
He said that this year, the United Nations has selected the theme ‘sabka saath’- co-operation of all.
It should be mentioned here that the international Co-operative Day is an annual celebration of the co-operative movement being observed on the first Saturday in July since 1923 by the International Co-operative Alliance.
The minister said that during the ten days’ period, co-operative department officers would attend at least three cooperative societies each. “The farmers would be apprised of the tremendous developmental potential lying in the cooperative movements during such programmes,” he said.
He said that the co-operative societies are the strongest resources to check migration of the people from the mountainous parts to the plains.
Rawat said that the officers were directed to invite local MP, MlA, block pramukh and local administrative officers to participate in the cooperative society programmes at their jurisdictional levels.
He further said that Janaushidhi Kendras would be operated through committees. Others present on the occasion were the state cooperative bank president Dan Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand state cooperative bank Tehri Ghanshyam Nautiyal and cooperative department officers like BM Mishra and Anand Shukla.
