The dramatic appearance of Harish Rawat in the demonstration of teachers has reaffirmed the image of a wily politician which the Uttarakhand Chief Minister carries. The move immediately soothed the frayed nerves of thousands of teachers who had assembled there. The outwitted teachers not only suspended their agitation but also took back their secretariat March programme. The cancellation of secretariat March programme also gave a big relief to the district administration which had developed cold feet by presence of massive crowd of teachers in parade ground. One of a leaders of the teachers said that the fact that CM visited the agitation site and addressed the teachers speaks volumes about the success of the agitation. He said that the presence of thousands of teachers forced the CM to pay an unscheduled visit.
