CM's assurance on fees to pvt schools evokes strong reaction from parents' body

The assurance of Chief Minister (CM) Harish Rawat to the Principals of eminent private schools that the State Government is not rushing through the proposed ‘ Fees control and disposal of complaints Bill 2015’ has evoked strong reaction from the All Uttarakhand Parents Association (AUPA).

On Friday a delegation of these Principals had met the Rawat and expressed its strong opposition on the provisions of the proposed bill. The CM assured the delegation that the government would consider their views on the issue. The heads of private schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE and others were part of the group which met the CM. These schools are of the view that the proposed bill would finish the famed private schools of the State as there would be no difference between them and the government ones.

The State Government under pressure from the agitation of some social organizations and parents association had decided to formulate a law to put reins on the private schools but the joining of hands of the private schools against it appears to have given second thoughts to the government on going ahead with the bill.

Meanwhile the AUPA has decided to intensify its agitation against the hegemony of private school owners post Dusshera.

The President of the association Neeraj Singhal told The Pioneer that the State Government has buckled under the clout of the private school owners and sent the proposed bill in cold storage.

He said that a meeting of all the units of the AUPA will be called after the festival of Dusshera to finalise future action plan.
