In his message to the people of Uttarakhand a day before the August Kranti Day would be observed in memory of the launching of the historic Quit India Movement by Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat urged the people to work together to make a robust and prosperous Uttarakhand and also to help India thrive in every department of her national life. “We feel thrilled while reading the glorious chapters of the history of our anti-colonial movement when the people were ready to undergo any kind of suffering and even to embrace death for the cause of the nation’s freedom from the British thraldom. August 9 is a red-letter day in our history as on this day in 1942, the people of India took the pledge of either achieving the mission of freedom or laying down lives while fighting for it. It is the day to gratefully remember the countless number of people who faced the bullets while chanting praise of the motherland,” CM said. “This is the day too to take a pledge that we will not rest unless and until India is freed from poverty, corruption, terrorism, casteism and communalism aside from the filth and garbage,” he further said in his message. Meanwhile, in its first, CM would interact with the students through video conferencing on Wednesday. Officials said that he would not just express his views over several topical maters but also answer the queries of the students too. They further said that in the days to come, CM would have similar interactions with cross- sections of the society like youth, women, teachers, industrialists and farmers.
