The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat would digitally transfer a sum of Rs 143.50 crores received as central grant under the Government of India’s 15th Finance Commission to the bank accounts of three tier Panchayati Raj system on Friday.

The additional secretary and director Panchayati Raj, H C Semwal said the Government of India had sent the aforementioned sum under the tied fund of 15th FC on July 15, 2020. The state government released the amount on July 17 and on July 23 the state treasury handed over the fund to Panchayati Raj department.

He said that showing promptness the department would now transfer the budget received to the bank accounts of 7791 village Panchayats, 95 Block Panchayats and 13 district Panchayats.  Semwal said that under the digital India programme, the Panchayati Raj department had organised an orientation programme of district and block panchayat representatives on February 9, 2020 at Haridwar. In this programme the funds of 14th FC commission were digitally transferred to Panchayati raj bodies by Union Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and CM Rawat.

Another digital transfer was made by CM on June 22 this year when the first instalment of untied fund provided by the Central Government and the budget of state finance commission were transferred.

It is pertinent to mention here that all 7791 Panchayats in the state are linked with the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) platform of online transfer of funds. The Panchayats would use the amount for various development and other projects in the rural areas of the state.
