Uttarakhand Urban Development Minister and the State Government spokesperson Madan Kaushik further said that the Chief Minister has convened a meeting with the State Government officials on Monday in course of which issues pertaining to the distribution of properties between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh would figure.
The officers have been categorically asked to come to the meeting with full preparations, the minister said. Notably, the matter of property distribution between UP and Uttarakhand has been pending since the hill state was carved out of UP in 2000.
However, with BJP now ruling both the states, hopes have brightened for an early settlement of the long-pending matters. Things are all the more favourable with the CM of UP Yogi Adityanath originally hailing from Uttarakhand. Since BJP formed governments in both the states in March, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and the State Finance Minister Prakash Pant met the UP CM twice.
While commenting on the presidential visit and that of the Prime Minister to two of the four fabled shrines- Badrinath and Kedarnath, Kaushik said that the VVIP visits would impart a massive boost to tourism with the possibility of the footfalls of the pilgrims reverting back to the figures of the time preceding the disaster 2013. He reiterated that with the chief minister himself monitoring the preparations for the pilgrimage, the two highest dignitaries of the country were all praise for the steps taken to ensure a safe and joyous pilgrimage to the revered shrines of the State.
