CM to brief MlAs on tackling Opp

With an intention to brief the Congress and its alliance parties’ MlAs, who are going to have day long deliberation with Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Monday, the State Government has prepared a bunch of Government Orders (GO) regarding action taken during rescue and relief operations by the State Government.

Sources said that AICC general secretary and Uttarakhand Congress in-charge Ambika Soni may visit Dehradun, but officially there has been no confirmation so far. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has gone to Delhi to make presentation before party senior leaders and Cabinet ministers about the State Government’s ongoing programme to rebuild the disaster-affected areas of the State.

Talking to The Pioneer, CM Bahuguna said: “We called such meeting to appraise the legislators about the Government action, so that they will be updated to counter Opposition in the upcoming monsoon session of Vidhan Sabha, which is going to begin by September 18.”

Bahuguna said: “The Opposition keeps raising doubts over the Congress-led State Government on ongoing relief operation, but they did not bother to inform the State Government about how we can reach affected villages or how we can re-build dismantled infrastructure. Instead of giving suggestions, they are busy making allegations against the State Government as if they do criticism for the sake of publicity only and nothing else.”

The CM further said that during day-long deliberation, all Cabinet Ministers will be available there, so that they can have interaction with them in his presence. He would also come to know what action the ministers have taken to sort out the legislature grievances. “As we know that the government makes policy and officials execute them on the ground. During the meeting, public representatives will tell about the actual scene on the ground; so that Government would incorporate their recommendation while preparing further plan for rebuilding of the State. In a nutshell, both sides will be benefited.”

On condition of anonymity, an official said: “We have compiled micro and macro details of the Government initiative to mitigate the disaster. Now onward, it would be available on people forum that which agencies or departments were participated in rescue and relief operation after cloudburst in three namely Mandakini in Kedar valley, Alaknanda in Badrinath and Bhagirathi in Gangotri on June 16-17. There was confusion among the ruling party MlAs that they are not being informed by the State about the ongoing rescue and relief operations.”

“With this meeting, each MlA would have knowledge about how much money the State has received from all sources, including donation of corporate and individuals. They will even be told about how much money the Union Government has given to the State for rebuilding of Uttarakhand.” The State Government wants to educate their MlAs so that they would start countering the Opposition allegation from August 19. With this, the ruling party MlAs would answer all the queries of the Opposition and they will have to review their strategy to counter the treasury bench during the upcoming Assembly session.
