Pulling up officials for coming to a meeting on the division of assets between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh without preparation, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat warned that such carelessness on their part in the next meeting would result in their suspension.
Reviewing the pending cases of asset division between the two States, the Chief Minister directed all the officials concerned to prepare a detail report on their respective cases before the meeting slated to be held with the Uttar Pradesh authorities.
Addressing officials in the meeting, Rawat said that all the cases of asset division should be categorised into sections including those pending in the court, resolved cases, disputed caes and cases pending at the level of the Government of India. These cases should be presented strongly in the favour of Uttarakhand, he stressed. Expressing dissatisfaction at some of the departmental officials coming to the meeting without preparation he warned them to bring about improvement in their functioning.
Such carelessness in the next meeting would result in suspension, he added. Rawat directed Chief Secretary S Ramaswamy that in the next fifteen days, detailed review of all cases should be conducted department-wise to strengthen the position of the state.
The Chief Minister himself will review the pending cases after a period of fifteen days. Before this, Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik will also review the pending cases once. Irrigation department officials informed in the meeting that of the total 1313 residential and non-residential buildings between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand had demanded 1013 buildings whereas Uttar Pradesh has so far provided approval only for 278 buildings.
Similarly, agreement is also to be reached regarding total 4230 hectare land under the irrigation department in the state including at the Haridwar Kumbh Mela area. Officials of the power department said that it had been demanded that the loan of Rs 353 crore taken by the Uttar Pradesh electricity council for the Maneri Bhali hydro electricity project should be repaid by Uttar Pradesh. The report of the accountant general in this case is also favourable as it states that at the time the Uttar Pradesh electricity council had not utilised the said amount on the Maneri Bhali project but on other tasks.
Issues pertaining to pending cases of transport, housing, cooperative, sugar cane-sugar, potable water and sanitation, food and civil supplies, animal husbandry, information and public relation, tourism department, silk, home, training and technical education, forest, rural development and industrial departments were also discussed in detail during the meeting. Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik, chief secretary S Ramaswamy, additional chief secretaries Ranvir Singh, Omprakash, secretaries Radhika Jha, R Meenakshi Sundaram and Amit Negi among others were also present in the meeting.
