CM struggles to woo miffed Cabinet ministers

Published on:

In a bid to woo aggrieved Cabinet ministers, Chief Minister Harish Rawat is seeking help of his predecessor and former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna. On Wednesday cabinet meeting, the CM had realized their anger because he had to call few ministers to complete the quorum for Cabinet meeting. With this development CM has come on back foot and said: “It is not the end; so no need to get panic on it. Reshuffle in cabinet would happen in future as well.”

Two cabinet Ministers namely Indira Hridayesh and Amrita Rawat have been busy in meeting with party senior leaders. This would be first instance when cabinet minister marched to Delhi to express their grievance against incumbent chief minister Harish Rawat. With this development one thing is clear that CM Rawat government has to face similar problem what his predecessor was facing since inception of Congress Government in Uttarakhand on March 13, 2012.

Talking to The Pioneer, Indira Hridayesh, who has been in Delhi since March 5, said that she met with AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday and explained her about the State scene, including political scene of the state.”

Hridayesh expressed hope that things will improve here in future. She further said that she has been representing in the Vidhan Sabha on seventh term but CM did not consider her seniority while allocating the portfolio.

Another cabinet Minister Amrita Rawat, who had to face inimical situation during budget session because opposition had raked Poly House scam, has expressed her displeasure. Meanwhile Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj met with Chief Minister Rawat at Bijapur Guest house on Thursday morning. Sources said that minister Amrita Rawat was seeking power. Instead of fulfilling her wish, CM has curtailed her existing department like horticulture. With this curtailment CM has ascertained the Opposition’s allegation that the minister was involved in Poly house scam.

Besides it cabinet minister Surendra Rakesh is running angry because he has been given additional charge of Rural pond development. Now he is unable to understand about how to work in newly formed ministry. Cabinet Minister Harish Chandra Durgapal has been given charge of Dairy development but he was denied animal husbandry department. Now he says: “Can you tell me how he would promote dairy industry because animal husbandry and fodder area development ministry

come under purview of Cabinet Minister Pritam Singh Panwar.”

The Progressive Democratic Front (PDF), which is an alliance of seven MlAs including three BSP, three independent and one UKD (P), is running angry with the government. The Harish Rawat Government is being survived by the support of PDF so their displeasure may make dent in the State Government.
