CM slammed over Badrinath remark

The statement of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat that the Badrinath route had been blocked eleven times when the BJP ruled the state with the NDA Government at the Centre has been criticised.

The Garhwal constituency MP and former Chief Minister Maj Gen (Rtd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri and senior BJP leader Vinod Sachdeva slammed the CM and said Rawat has been elected to develop the state and not to mislead people by spreading lies.

“We must keep in mind that when I was in the NDA government in the Centre Uttarakhand had a Congress Government. It is the state Government’s responsibility to bring the Centre on board as far as the State’s development is concerned. But the CM is resorting to spurious data to cover his Government’s failure,” the former CM said.

Sachdeva alleged that Rawat is known for announcing a string of development promises, but not a single one of them has been fulfilled. “As far as distribution of disaster funds among the victims is concerned things are not good. Those who are not entitled are receiving assistance and compensation while the funds are out of bound for those who have grimly affected by the disaster. Similarly, crores of rupees are being spent by the administration to boost Winter Yatra. However, the pilgrims are proving elusive over the past four/five months,” the BJP leader said.

Taking a swipe at the CM, he said while Rawat is calling for curtailing budgetary expenses the ministers and senior officers are, on the other hand, choosing to fly. “The ministers are coming to attend a small event on choppers. Public money is being squandered.” Referring to the Char Dham Yatra roads, he said when the ministers fly, how can they judge how things are on the groundsIJ
