Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has congratulated newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi for getting elected as leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party in Delhi on Tuesday. After swearing-in ceremony, being a Chief Minister of the State, he would meet Prime Minister Modi and will apprise the State’s expectation from him in Delhi.
With this, CM Rawat has stressed that the State would need Rs4,000 crore, which would be in addition to the sanctioned amount of Rs8,000 crore, for the reconstruction of State infrastructure damaged in the June 2013 disaster.
He expressed hope that newly elected Members of Parliament of Uttarakhand will raise Uttarakhand issue in Parliament. At the same time, he put challenge before the new Government and disclosed list of works, which were started by the previous Government, and expressed hope that these works will be implemented in coming days. He also expressed hope that the newly elected Government will consider Uttarakhand because Modi has categorically said that he is deeply associated with Uttarakhand during election campaign.
CM Rawat expressed hope that Modi will fulfill his promises, which were made with the people of Uttarakhand during campaign, and the State will reap its benefit in upcoming policies of BJP-led NDA Government. It was a tradition of the UPA Government that they were
giving priority to the small State while drafting new policy for the nation. He also expects that
previous Government sanctioned project will be executed and the State would get unhindered flow of fund from the Union Government.
He also complimented newly elected MPs of the State and hoped that they would raise Uttarakhand issue in the parliament. With this state would be benefited in future. For their (newly elected MP) CM Rawat disclosed issues, which needs to be raised in the parliament, that is Doiwala-Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line; Tanakpur-Joljivi border area motor road, Jollycome-Malari Motor road; Purkaji-laksar-haridwar national highway and Ganga cleanliness drive, which was sanctioned in a meeting of Ganga Basin Authority led by Prime Minister.
Even the UPA Government had sanctioned special fund of Rs 1,200 crore for the development of Himalayan areas and the State had received Rs200 crore. Now, CM Rawat is hoping that the new Government will give green bonus, which was long pending demand of BJP leader, to the Uttarakhand because previous government had given full emphasis on small States so the new Government will continue the policy in future.
As far as industrial package is concerned then UPA-II Government had given investment subsidy to the state in which they had given combines package worth of Rs580 crore for three States that is Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Now if new government gives rebate in excise then State would be able to attract more industries into the State.
As far as congress defeat is concerned then CM Rawat said that due to UPA Government policy a section of people had joined medium class from lower class and their expectation had grown many times. UPA had launched food security act but could not implement on grounds. In nut shell UPA Government had failed to maintain pace with the people expectation and now people have given their verdict against the congress.
State government has well tailored road map, which will be followed, that is. continue char dham Yatra, prepare for supporting Yatra like Nanda Raj Jat Yatra and Kailash Mansarovar and resume the tracking route as well. With these state would be able to revive the state economy and if we failed then state economy will be delayed for next one year.
