CM proposal to make Haridwar mining-free

Published on:

Chief Minister Harish Rawat directed Chief Secretary N. Ravishanker to present a testing report on the possibilities to make Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts mining-free.

Media In-charge to CM Surender Kumar informed that Chief Secretary would examine the three facts. First, how State income would be affected and how can the Government bridge the gap if these two districts become mining free. Second, how ecology and flow of the rivers would be affected if ban is imposed on the river mining on account of debris accumulation and how would it impact population living around the riversides. Third, how much will it affect the availability of construction materials.
