CM orders probe into 'irregular' land transfers

Published on:

Taking serious note of the irregular allotment and transfer of land to the displaced persons of the Tehri dam project, without taking approval from the Government, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

The Government has nullified the complete work of allotment and mutation done by the rehabilitation director after October 25, 2012 as they have automatically become ineffective. Status quo will be maintained at disputed sites till further orders. With a view to probing irregular allotments done after October 25, 2012, Commissioner Garhwal has been deputed, who will submit his report after hearing all related parties by December 15, 2013 along with verified copies of all documents.

Providing this information, Additional Secretary Irrigation Shridhar Babu Addanki said that matter has been taken cognizance of by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna.

Bahuguna has quashed the order of mutation and land transfers done beyond the jurisdiction after October 25, 2012 of displaced persons of Tehri Dam Project. He said that the order issued on October 25, 2012 to the Director, Rehabilitation, had permitted acceptance of eligibility, approval of compensation, approval of the allotment of agriculture and residential land and transfer only after obtaining prior financial and administrative permission of the Government. Despite that, then Director Rehabilitation has done irregular allotment and transfer of land without taking prior permission of the Government.
