CM meets Cong workers, discusses slew of issues

Published on:

To bridge the so-called gap between the party and the Government, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna met party workers at the Congress Bhawan in Dehradun on Wednesday. The CM also discussed various issues pertaining to the party and its workers along with PCC chief Yashpal Arya.

During the party workers’ meet, Bahuguna behaved like an administrator, politician and elder as well. As an administrator, he sanctioned financial assistance ranging from `5,000 to `50,000; as a politician, he rejected a leader’s petition saying “Vijay Bahuguna is not senior to you as a politician”, and whenever people touch his feet, he blessed them like an elder.

Replying to the media queries about the less gathering, CM said that most of the party workers either meet him at the office or residence which is why their number was less.

Taking cognisance of media reports about delay in the disbursal of financial assistance under CM Relief Fund, Bahuguna directed officials to ensure that financial assistance given to people from the CM Relief Fund should reach them in time. The Chief Minister said that resolving problems of people was the Government’s priority. He met MlAs,

councillors and party workers and heard their problems.

later, he also sanctioned financial assistance for the needy party leaders including Piran Kaliyar MlA Furkan Ahmed, workers and their acquaintances. Seeing his polite mood, a home guard association leader tried to procure CM’s signature on his petition. However, the CM outrightly refused that, saying that the matter is already referred to the finance department. By doing this, CM sent a message to the party workers that he is here to serve their genuine demands only.

There should be widespread propagation of the schemes run for the welfare of common people. There is need to keep an eye on construction work at the local level to ensure quality construction. He said any irregularity in this respect would be dealt with strictly. He said workers were the face of the party and would be given due respect and importance. Office-bearers and workers of the party also gave suggestions for strengthening the party organisation and Government.

On his arrival at the Congress Bhawan, the CM was welcomed by Cabinet Minister and State PCC chief Yashpal Arya, workers and office-bearers of the party.
