Stating that the Chief Minister Harish Rawat might not have even an inkling of knowledge about the demolition drive launched by Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority along Chakrata Road, State Congress general secretary Anand Rawat who happens to be the CM’s son linked large-heartedness to survival in the hurly-burly of politics. “In case MDDA acted this way at the behest of the State Government, giving a short shrift to the sentiments of the common people, then it is indeed a matter of serious concern. However, as far as my knowledge goes it is MDDA’s own initiative,” he said.
Then outlining his own concept of what a true politician ought to be, he said: “I am invincibly convinced that a politician must have a large, all-embracing heart and a robust futuristic perspective to survive the rough and tumble of politics. Unless he possesses these attributes or takes adequate pains to inculcate them while being in public life it is unlikely that he would stand the trial and tribulations of public life and thrive for a long time,” he said.
