As announced earlier, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat interacted with the students through a video conference organised in the District Collectorate on Wednesday that marks the 75th anniversary of August Kranti Diwas. Among the students who talked with the CM, there were some from Haridwar district like Kanika, Simran and Arzoo.
They asked the CM why the Hindi medium schools, especially the Government -run Hindi medium schools, are being looked down upon as compared to the privately run English medium schools. They said it would be difficult for them to rid themselves of the inferiority complex being implanted in them when they start their academic career.
Notably, CM spoke to the students from all the districts of the state in the presence of District Magistrates during which the students asked him to provide them with better education and sports facilities aside from employment opportunities. CM stressed on freeing the society from the cankers of drug addiction, corruption and caste disparities while exhorting the students to bring the changes within themselves from this day.
While answering their queries of the Government-run schools standing no comparison with the private schools in terms of infrastructure, CM cited the instance of a Dehradun- based Government school seeing an increasing number of students. He said that there were only nine students when the school started. But the number has shot up to 400 now, he said, adding that the role of the teachers is more important than the infrastructural facilities. According to him, the competent teachers committed to the ethics of the noble profession can cover up the infrastructural deficiencies by their quality of teaching. “The teachers of the government-run schools here are better paid than their private school counterparts,” he said. He also asked the students not to nurture any feeling of inferiority towards the national language. If the nation pays the national language its due respect it must grow strong and prosperous, CM said.
While a class 12 student from Government Girls Inter College of Jwalapur Raveena demanded the state government to provide the same facilities to the government schools that the private schools are enjoying Vijay of Jwalapur Inter College asked for laboratory facilities in the schools. Simran of class 12 asked for running smart classes in the school to which CM assured of taking some positive measures.
