Reacting sharply to the Gujjar Mahapanchayat slated for Thursday in laksar in Haridwar to be held at the behest of the BJP leader, Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, who was one of the nine Congress rebels, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said on Wednesday that he would not allow anyone to disturb peace and communal harmony of the State.
He further said that the newly inducted BJP leaders who had tried hard to topple his Ministry were now hell-bent of disturbing communal harmony in the State. “But I have categorically asked the district administration to be vigilant and to deal with any political party out to disturb peace with heavy hands,” CM said.
CM at the same time appreciated the efforts of the district administration to maintain the communal amity, braving the tremendous provocations thrown by the communal forces. “I am happy to state that they have been maintaining law and order of the district splendidly, showing steely resolution. There is prevailing peace in the district thanks to them,” he said
Training his gun on Champion, CM said that the latter was intent on regaining his sagging popularity by taking recourse to blatantly communal brand of politics. "But I want to warn them against venturing out for such misadventures. The peace-loving people of Haridwar would thwart his nefarious game plan to fracture them on communal lines," CM said.
He appealed to the people to come forward to foil the divisive design by maintaining peace and harmony of the State.
“As long as I am the CM I would not allow the communal forces to incite division on the basis of religion. That is why, I have given the administration free hand to deal with things as have been unfolding in the district. We have taken pledge to provide security to the people of all religions and we would never be found wanting in this monumental
mission. We would counter the communal threat politically too. Congress would stage rallies to stop such forces to vitiate the atmosphere for narrow political gains,” CM Rawat said.
