Emphasising on the need of improving education quality in Uttarakhand, the CM Harish Rawat said that it is the age of excellence. He said that the concept of education has changed phenomenally over the years and even getting a distinction has lost its importance.

More attention should be paid to the overall development of the student. This was said by the Chief Minister Harish Rawat while addressing the teachers and students in a workshop on ‘quality education’ held at MKP Inter College on Wednesday. The workshop was organised by Uttarakhand Government Principals’ Association.

The education department officers should lay emphasis on providing quality education in the Government-run schools in the State. He appealed to the students to focus on their overall development rather than concentrating on securing marks in their annual examination. CM Rawat appealed to the teachers to maintain the spirit of Guru Shishya Parampa in the era of information technology. “This ethos involving the teachers and the taught would become things of the past unless we take care to ensure that they thrive”, he said.

lauding Uttarakhand as a hub of education and technical education, he expressed disappointment over the plummeting quality of education at Government-run schools in the State. The teachers should be ready to work in the schools located in the remotest areas of the State. All the teachers’ demands will be addressed promptly. They produced their demands including standard for section in the class because there is single norms on creation of section in Government and private schools.

Even they mention that there should be uniformity in work division for the teachers in accessible and inaccessible areas. Even fee structure need to be revised because non Government schools are facing difficulties so that fee should be `50 per students and provide manpower against the sactioned post.

During the meeting State Education minister Mantri Prasad Naithani, Forest development corporation chairman Harish Dhami and Director School education CS Gwal amongst were present there.
