CM for focus on backward areas

Published on:

CM Harish Rawat has said that NABARD should lay emphasis in capacity building in rural areas and it should give priority to projects in the backwards areas of the State.

He made this observation while interacting with NABARD chairman Harsh Kumar Bhanwala on Friday.

Rawat told Bhanwala that the apex rural credit bank should keep in mind the losses faced by the tourism sector while approving projects related with tourism. He opined that the projects related with eco tourism and adventure tourism can be included by the bank for providing finance. He specifically asked NABARD for providing help in developing small scale industrial units in the mountainous areas of the State. He said that in the new policy, the State Government is planning to open 100 small scale units and train 1000 youths for the purpose.

Bhanwala said that the bank would help the State in setting up the 100 small sector units and assured every possible help. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Indira Hridayesh, and Agriculture Minister Harak Singh Rawat, and Chief Secretary N Ravi Shankar among others.
