The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has stressed that national interest is supreme. Only, a person who has sense of respect for the motherland can be helpful in the progress of the country. In a brief programme held at the Chief Minsiter’s residence on Sunday, Rawat flagged off the ongoing Shaheed Swabhiman Yatra from Dehradun for its next destination. The Chief Minister said that as per the Indian culture, the birthplace is considered as mother. He said, “Our first responsibility is towards our motherland. Brave sons of Bharat Mata, who attained martyrdom during freedom struggle and after Independence to ensure the freedom of the country, can never be forgotten. It is a matter of happiness that our youth have a sense of respect for the martyrs,” he added.
While extending his wishes to the convener of Shaheed Swabhiman Yatra, Surender Singh Bidhuri, the chief minister hoped that the Swabhiman Yatra will be successful in its objectives.
It should be mentioned here that Shaheed Swabhiman Yatra started from New Delhi on March 23. After covering 16500 kilometres in 23 states during a period of 79 days, the Yartra had reached Dehradun on Saturday. In total, 25000 kilometres will be covered in 29 states as part of the Shaheed Swabhiman Yatra.
