Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off four ‘Ganga Sanrakshan Rath Yatra’ chariots under the Namami Gange project at his residence on Thursday.
Under the National Mission for Clean Ganga, these four chariots will move around the Chardham Yatra routes till the time their portals are closed. They would run regularly from Haridwar to Badrinath, Rudraprayag to Kedarnath, Haridwar to Gangotri and Dharasu to Yamunotri to make the people aware of the importance of conserving the Ganga.
CM said that they would do everything to meet the Prime Minister's commitment for a clean Ganga. “We have to bring Ganga back to its natural pristine form by running a campaign in the vast basin of the holy river,” he said while hoping that the ‘Ganga Conservation Rath Yatra’ would go a long way in the fulfilment of the mission.
