Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat has expressed grief on the death of lance Naik Raghubir Singh of Chamoli. Singh was martyred while fighting with terrorists in Pulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunda ymorning. Raghibir Singh was posted in 31 Rashtriya Rifles belonging to Makholi village near Gairsain in Chamoli district.
On Monday, the mortal remains of Raghubir Singh were flown to Guachar in an army helicopter. The body of the soldier was then transported by road to Gairsain from where it was carried to Makholi village. The cremation of the brave heart would be conducted on Tuesday with full military honours.
In his message, the Chief Minister said Raghubir Singh and other jawans showed exemplary courage and attained martyrdom.
He directed the chief secretary to ensure that compensation is paid to the grieving family.
