Uttarakhand Chief Miniser Trivendra Singh Rawat has directed secretary (mining) Shailesh Bagauli to take all possible steps to prevent illegal mining activities completely. District magistrates and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) should establish co-ordination to put check on illegally quarrying activities in their respective districts. In pursusance of a zero-tolerance attitude towards illegal mining activities stringent action should be taken against those persons who are found to be involved in illegal quarrying activities in their respective districts. An arrangement of electronic record should be developed through which police personnel could know through SMSs about whether vehicles are transporting legal or illegally quarried materials, he added.
