Amid controversy arising out of the State cabinet’s decision to stop the work on the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Haldwani following opposition from certain quarters, the State Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has clarified that the ISBT would be constructed in Haldwani itself and the Government has no plan to take it out from the city as being apprehended.
Clarifying confusion on the issue, the CM said that a new place for ISBT would be earmarked in Haldwani itself. The CM’s clarification came after the charge the leader of Opposition in state assembly, Indira Hridayesh made against the Government in which she claimed that ISBT would now be shifted out of Haldwani. It is pertinent to mention here that the State Government stalled the work on the ambitious project of ISBT Haldwani after protests on discovery of a burial ground in the area. The protesters were supported by senior cabinet minister Yashpal Arya. A total of Rs 1.5 Crore had been spent on the project.
The anxiety of Indira Hridayesh is understandable as she had initiated the process of constructing the Inter-State Bus terminus.
