Despite Haridwar police having announced a reward of `10,000 nearly one month ago to anyone who gives clues about the parents of the two missing children from Haridwar district who were later found at lucknow railway station, no success has come their way so far.
“We are a bit worried with the delay in the process of handing over the children to their relatives. We hope, things would be cleared soon,” said a senior district police officer. Notably, two boys- Mohammad Arif (7) and Jeeshan (8)- were found at lucknow railway station on October 5 and 7, respectively. IG Garhwal announced the sum as reward for clues leading to the identification of the duo.
According to the police, Mohammad Arif is unable to give any information about his parents while Jeeshan says he lives near Haridwar railway station along with his paternal uncle and aunt. His uncle, Nathu works on a machine used for wood cutting and his aunt is called Ashma, he says. He further claims that Arif is his relative and he too lives with him in Haridwar.
Jeeshan also says that they both reached the railway station one day, boarded a train and reached lucknow.
Informed by police based in lucknow, police started the process of identifying their kin. But despite days having passed since the duo was found, police are still groping in the gloom.
