Cloudy conditions bring down temp further in Terai belt

Published on:

Even as the weather department forecast a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in the   running week, cloudy conditions brought down atmospheric temperature even further in the Terai belt on Sunday. The weather conditions that had shown some improvement during the past few days after a brief spell of rain in first week of this month, started deteriorating since morning here on Sunday, bringing down the minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius even in the plains of Uttarakhnd which hitherto remain warmer than mountainous region of the hill State.

It may be recalled that even during first week of this month between February 1 and February 3, as forecasted by the weather department, people had to face rainy conditions in plains and snowfall in hilly areas across the State. In the meanwhile, foggy  conditions that had also shown some improvement of late, may also hit normal life across the region particularly during night hours if weather conditions deteriorate in the coming days as forecasted. The fact of the matter is that due to poor visibility caused by fog, vehicular traffic also  remains badly disrupted in the Terai region. The matter of concern is that poor visibility also gives rise to road mishaps.
