To firm up its strategy in the aftermath of the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) order on Clinical Establishment Act, the Uttarakhand Chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called an important meeting on Thursday.

The HC in a recent order had directed the state government to impose a ban on all such clinics and hospitals which are not registered under the act.

The secretary of the state chapter of IMA, Dr D D Chaudhury informed that the meeting of the office bearers of the association would discuss the situation and devise its future course of action on the sensitive issue. He said that the association has already informed the state administration about its views and changes which are needed to be made in the ‘Clinical Establishment Act’.

“It is up to the government to take a decision on the issue now,’’ he said. The IMA secretary added that the association is also seeking legal opinion on the HC order.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the representatives of the private hospitals, clinics and Dehradun chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) was convened by the district administration of Dehradun on Wednesday.

The general secretary of the Dehradun IMA, Dr J S Hanspal said that the meeting was convened to remove the confusion prevailing on the clinical establishment act. He said that the IMA and private medical practitioners are ready to cooperate with the administration on the issue.
