Though ‘cleanliness’ is a common word, it is not a common practice in day to day life of the public. ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (IISWC), director Dr PK Mishra said this while addressing the gathering at the start of the Swachchta fortnight here on Monday.
laying emphasis on the need for awareness and action for the vital aspect of sanitation, the institute director stressed upon the collection of bio-degradable and non bio-degradable waste material separately in order to ensure required efficiency towards improved management, decomposition and recycling.
Expressing his views on the occasion, noted environmental and social activist, Anil Prakash Joshi of Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisation (HESCO), appreciated the work done by the institute in the sphere of soil and water conservation leading to cleanliness as a whole. He strongly condemned the indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and stressed on the need for urgent measures to improve and preserve the environment.
