The members of Class IV State employees association lodged their protest at the female of wing of the associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) here on Friday. The members of the association were infuriated at what they termed as unnecessary and harsh action taken on a ‘Ward aaya’. The daughter of this Ward aaya also created a scene outside the office of Medical Superintendent (MS) of the female wing of GDMC. later a delegation of the association met the MS, Dr Meenakshi Joshi and demanded reversal of the disciplinary action on the ward aaya. The district president of the association, Nelson Kumar Arora said that the disciplinary action on the ward aaya was uncalled for as everything was settled between the patient who was allegedly pushed and the staff members, on the day of the incident itself. He claimed that the authorities assured the delegation that the action against Ward aaya would be reversed.

It is worth mentioning here than on Tuesday a pregnant woman a resident of Dehrakhas was standing in the OPD line of patients after undergoing an ultrasound. Reportedly not able to bear sweltering heat, the woman sat on a nearby chair. This act of her offended a Ward Aaya who asked her to vacate the chair and stand in the line. It is alleged that when the patient ignored repeated orders of the ward aaya, she was pushed by an infuriated ‘ward aaya’.

The patient, who is in advanced stage of pregnancy, charged the ‘ward aaya’ of physically abusing her. When the issue came to the notice of the hospital authorities, the Ward aaya accused of pushing the patient was shunted out of the ward and placed elsewhere.
