CJM Court issues summons to ex-DGP

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate has issued  summons to the former State Director-General of Police, BS Sidhu in connection with alleged illegal cutting of green trees in the land purchased by him at Veergirwali on Old Mussoorie Road in Dehradun which the forest department claimed to be forest land. The court ordered Sidhu to appear in the court on January 27, 2017.

A forest department officer had filed a plea against Sidhu over the same issue in the court of additional district judge (ADJ-IV) in 2013. Then the Court had summoned Sidhu. Being DGP of the State, Sidhu had challenged it and filed a revision plea in the district court. Since then the issue was pending in the court. The case was reopened after Sidhu retired from the DGP post, court sources said.
