The Municipal Corporation began work on constructing a wall around its land encroached upon by the builder of Pacific Hills apartments Rajpur Road on Friday.
Earlier, on November 13, Mukhya Nagar Adhikari Harak Singh Rawat had ascertained that 1,200 square metres of municipal land had been encroached upon by the builder of Pacific Hills apartments.
Due to political interference to stall action against the builder, Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli had ordered that a wall be constructed around the land.
He had also approved Rs3.5 lakh for construction of this wall with the MCD taking possession of the construction already made. The work began on Friday in police presence with a JCB used to demarcate the municipal land.
Rawat informed The Pioneer that construction of the wall had been started as per the markings made.
Work was continuing at the site till the time of this report being filed.
