City residents continue to reel under frequent power cuts

Published on:

Since Sunday evening when rain accompanied by gusts of wind lashed Dehradun, the people, residing on the outskirts of the city and the adjacent rural areas, have been reeling under recurring spells of power cuts. Though the power department officials say that they are working on a war-footing to fix the power lines that snapped, the condition of power supply has yet to improve in some places on Tuesday. It is learnt that several areas like Jogiwala, Harrawala, Badripur and parts of Raipur and Rajpur are still grappling with power outages for hours. However, Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) spokesman PC Dhyani said that power supply might have been disrupted at some places following snapping  of electricity wires during the rain on Sunday. Besides, the transformer at Dharmpur developing snags might have caused power outages in several areas of the city and the adjacent rural areas. Power department officials are now working on war -footing to restore normalcy, he said, adding that electricity supply would be near normal by Wednesday.

Ujjawal, resident of Jogiwala said,” We have been facing considerable difficulties due to frequent power cuts for the past four days. When the power comes the voltage is too low.”

Recounting the same woe Sameer, resident of Badripur, said that intermittent power cuts in the locality had become a regular feature causing considerable inconvenience.
