With December approaching, the denizens of Dehradun are now gearing up for the chilling winter that would continue till mid-February. The mercury has started dipping while the weathermen say that the gulf between the maximum and the minimum temperatures would narrow down in the coming days. The maximum in the city is now hovering in 24 degree Celsius while the minimum is coming down to nearly 6 degree Celsius during the night and the early morning hours. The weather would be mainly dry, though the sky might be partly overcast on Tuesday, the Met officials said.
The temperature keeps dipping across the state while the higher reaches of the hills are experiencing snowfall. The minimum temperature settled at 5 degree Celsius at Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar district while it was 4.9 in Mukteswar in Almora district and 6.2 in New Tehri in Tehri district on Monday.
It was a sunny day in Dehradun on Monday. However, it turned cold as the evening descended.
The night would be even colder, given the trend. The traffic are significantly thinning on the roads of the city during the night hours while the traders shutter their shops much earlier than usual, as is the scenario of Dehradun during the winter.
