City bus union to go on one-day strike

Regional Transport Officer of Dehradun, Dinesh Chandra Pathoi maintained that Transport Department has not received any formal notification regarding the city bus union strike to be held on Saturday.

Pathoi said that RTO officials have not received any clear notification about the route and areas for the proposed strike and have got no official information about it. Meanwhile, Pathoi also stated that he knows about the demands of the city bus transporters and would find appropriate solution to it. Contrary to this, Parade Ground Premnagar Parwal City Bus Union president, Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal stated that the members of the union have already submitted a memorandum to the RTO officials regarding the proposed strike and they were also given a receiving letter from the officials.

He said that now the RTO officials are just pretending to be unaware about the scheduled strike. Notably, the city bus union would go on one-day strike on Saturday in support of its demand for action against the illegal operation of Vikrams in the city. Dandriyal said that the Vikram operators generally flout all the mentioned norms and don’t even follow the guidelines mentioned in the permit letter. Around 50 per cent of the Vikrams in Dehradun are operating without any permit and no action has been taken against their operators by the RTO officials. He stated that city bus union members would also be staging protest in support of their demands near Deen Dayal Upadhayay Park on Saturday.
