The Dehradun City Bus Association has withdrawn its proposed strike call of May 6. The association took this decision after a meeting with the District Magistrate (DM) of Dehradun on Thursday. The President of the association, Dr Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal said that a delegation was invited by the DM on the day for discussion. He said that the DM asked the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Dehradun to convene a meeting of Vikram operators, Tata magic association with the association of city bus on Friday. The DM also asked the RTO and in-charge of traffic police to ensure that the vehicles of the city transport are plying as per the provisions of permits issued to them.

The association had given a strike call on Friday in protest against the apathetic attitude of the transport department which according to it, in gross violation of norms and orders of Uttarakhand High Court (HC) is allowing the contract carriage vehicles to pick retail passengers on the city routes.

The association allege that the contract carriage vehicles like Vikrams and Tata magic are working like stage carriage in violation of  norms in collusion with the officers of transport department.
